Outdoor Southwark Dementia Walks

Outdoor Southwark is a new partnership project between Art in the Park and the Alzheimer’s Society giving people with dementia and their carers new opportunities to experience Southwark’s parks and outdoor spaces in a series of dementia-friendly walks. These will be informed by local experts to cover a diverse range of topics such as wildlife and local history.

Our next walk dates are as follows:

21st May 2pm Burgess Park – start outside Art in the Park studios
11 June 2pm June Peckham Rye – start outside park café
9 July 2pm Rotherhithe – in front of the Brunel museum

Participants will take part in creative workshops related to the walks and which will take place at Daffodil Café in Nunhead, for people affected by dementia, and at Art in the Park studios.

Artwork from these sessions along with maps and other useful information will be included in a booklet of four dementia-friendly walks in Southwark parks and outdoor spaces. The booklet will be disseminated with the help of LB Southwark. The project is Big Lottery funded.
