Marking Places is our new creative project funded by Big Lottery Fund Awards For All. Over the next year, we are working with the community to create three commemorative markers for heritage sites in Burgess Park.
The launch of Marking Places was well-attended and a huge thank you to everyone who came along with lots of interesting suggestions and creative ideas.
In the coming workshops participants will be contributing to the design of a marker for the North Camberwell Radical Club on:
Tuesday 1st, 8th, 15th, 22nd 29th November from 11-1pm at the Art in the Park studio
Here are the other suggestions for the other two sites we have gathered so far along with some great ideas about remembering and different forms and materials. We are inviting people to do further research with us on these sites over the next couple of months and will cross reference with any work done by the Friends of Burgess Park ‘Bridge to Nowhere’ Project.
The Cold Storage Depot near the Old Kent Road entrance
A plaque that was once on the corner of then Calmington Road and Albany Rd remembering First World War Zeppelin Raid and the children killed in the raid – opened in 1927
